Character Animation - Process
I have been experimenting with Procreate and have been doing a lot of character illustration designs. I've learned a lot and the app has become a staple in my digital illustration creations. I wanted to explore the app a bit further and decided to take this one to the next level by hand animating it. The Procreate app has limited amount of layers based on your overall file size so managing my layers and keeping them limited was essential. After this was complete I still wasnt satisfied completely with the end result. To me it just felt a bit lack luster. So I brought the character animation into After Effects, recreated the background effects I had done in Procreate by hand. And then decided to just amp it all up with some added highlight/shadows and compositing effects. I'm much happier with the result of the final image and animation. Yet I wasn't done there, I had so much fun editing together this process video, added some motion graphics type of transitions/effects and type to make a quick process video. I hope you enjoyed, I know I had a blast creating it! Music by HookSounds

Metro Transit: Greenline Hologram
The Twin Cities Metro Transits has opened up a new train route that directly and easily connects the twin cities in a single trip. To advertise this new connection myself and a partner came together to create this animation. Using photographs we took ourselves on the Greenline route, I was able to model buildings and surroundings that give a glimpse of what you'll see on route. My partner provided the train model and its textures as well as handling the hand rotoscoping. Meanwhile I matched the camera in 3D space with the live action footage and gave the environment materials and lighting. This project required a few different render layers so I got a good handle on the rendering workflow as well. Compositing many different elements together in After Effects created many challenges but I think that as a team we overcame those challenges.

Orcas: Wild vs Captive
This is an infomercial about the health concerns of orcas who live in captivity and how those concerns contrast the lives they would live in the wild oceans. I modeled and rigged the whale used in this project, as well as created several 2D elements. There was some compositing and animating in After Effects necessary as well. This was a collaboration with two other animators.

The Perfect Mixture
The two characters in this story work along side each other in a candy factory and at first they have conflicting work habits. They disagree and a chase ensues, disturbing the rest of the factory and nearly ruining the whole batch! Only to discover that by working together, they can make The Perfect Mixture! This candy commercial is in various stages of production but is a good representation of its current state and where it's headed. Music is Fuex Follets: Just a Smile, Roger Roger

3D Character Model by Joey Cheers (AnimatoJoe)
You may remember this sassy gal? This is Dottie, the waitress from my 2D extreme walk animation. She's looking much rounder these days in all perspectives! This was completed as my organic model for Intermediate 3D Modeling. Next quarter I'm taking Materials and Lighting where I'll get to texture and light her as well.

MN State Fair (Mock) Commercial
For an assignment in my Storyboarding and Animatics class, I have created an animatic that I could potentially present or "pitch" to a board on the State Fair Committee. If this were truly happening and I got an approval from them, I would then make this into a full animated commercial, which I most likely will not be doing unless it is just for fun. :D All of the drawings are my original drawings and digital paintings in PhotoShop. The sounds used are mostly from free sound.org. Also the logo at the end is straight off of the site so I do not take any ownership over that design either! Well I hope you like it!
